SAGE Hawaii
SAGE Hawaii
The overall purpose of this project is to spread awareness of gender equality and gather support for gender equality issues.
SAGE in Hawaii pursues this goal through expanding our gender equality club here at ASIJ to the Punahou School in Hawaii.
We hope that this translates into a greater project of expanding SAGE and its efforts to other schools that may not have an effective gender equality club.
Upcoming Events/Plans
At the moment, we are focusing on helping to set up SAGE at Punahou.
This involves connecting to the Punahou SAGE members through Flipgrid and putting together an informational video on SAGE to send to the Punahou SAGE leaders.
We will also be hosting Zoom meetings with the Punahou SAGE group once or twice a month to plan potential joint projects and have discussions on gender inequality around us.
We hope to raise awareness on gender inequality at Punahou, where the lack of a gender equality club until now has left many students uneducated on this issue.
Through joint fundraising for AUW, we hope to also increase support for women’s education.
In the future, we would like to continue these efforts for other schools both within and outside Japan.
Information
This project will also allow members to explore the way in which gender inequality differs based on location and surrounding culture.
Gender inequality in Hawaii is different from gender inequality in Japan, and we want to explore these differences as well as similarities through discussions and other activities.
